10 RUBLES. USSR. 1992.

The stamp of the 10 Rubles coin was made on the Leningrad mint for issue in 1992. But a few coins were struck in December, 1991 and was put in circulation. However, the Ukrainian popular referendum on December 1, 1991, wherein 90% of voters opted for independence.
On December 8, 1991, the leaders of the Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian republics met in Belavezhskaya Pushcha and signed the Belavezha Accords declaring the Soviet Union dissolved and replaced by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
On December 12, 1991, Russia's secession from the Union was sealed, with the Congress of Soviets of RSFSR formally ratifying the Belavezha Accords and denouncing the 1922 Treaty on the creation of the Soviet Union.
On December 25, 1991, Gorbachev, yielding to the inevitable, resigned as president of the USSR, declaring the office extinct and ceding all the powers still vested in it to the president of Russia: Yeltsin. On the night of that same day, the Soviet flag was lowered for the last time over the Kremlin. Finally, a day later on December 26, 1991, the Supreme Soviet recognized the extinction of the Union and dissolved itself.

Description: Obverse: Building of USSR Supreme Soviet and Kremlin tower. Between the edge of coin and rim there is inscription: ГОСУДАРСТВЕННЫЙ БАНК СССР (NATIONAL BANK OF THE USSR). Reverse: The denomination in two lines in the center; under it there is a year of issue: 1992. On the left there is a wheat ear, on the right – oak branch and the mint trademark (ЛМД). Bimetal. Metal of insert – aluminum bronze; metal of ring – copper-nickel alloy. Weight – 5.90 g. Diameter – 25.00 mm. Edge with milled sectors. Mintage is unknown (probably, a few hundred coins were in circulation).
