1ST ISSUE OF CHANGE COINS. 1949.

Monetary system: 1 Zloty = 100 Groszy.
Coins in circulation: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 Groszy, 1 Zloty.

28.10.1950, coins were issued for 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Groszy and 1 zloty. 1 and 2 Grosze were minted in aluminium, with the 5 groszy also minted in bronze and the denominations above 5 groszy also minted in cupro-nickel.
All coin were struck at Warsaw Mint without mint mark.
These coins were in circulation since 15.02.1951 on territory that Soviet Ukraine was given from Poland. It occurred when Poland and the Soviet Union adjusted the border in the upper San River area and in the Bełz area. Poland was given land east of the San River south of Przemyśl and Soviet Ukraine was given land that was west of and including Bełz that was in Poland. Populations were exchanged.
