IVAN FEDOROV (Fyodorov) was born around 1525 and was died December 14, 1583.
He was recognized in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine as the first book printer and publisher.
He was also a superior master cannon maker and the inventor of a multi barrel mortar.
He oversaw the construction of a printing house in 1553. Together with Pyotr Mstislavets, he printed the first dated Russian book, "Acts and Epistles of the Apostles", on March 1, 1564 in Moscow (which was dated around 1564).
Later, he worked in Belarus and Ukraine Fedorov printed the first complete Slavic Bible in Ukraine in 1581 known as Ostrozhskaya Bibliya (Ostrog Bible), because it was printed on the premises of the estate of Kniaz Konstantin Ostrozhsky in Ostrog.
He died in Lviv on December 14, 1583 and is buried there in Onufryievo Cloister.

Obverse: National arms, denomination, date of issue.
Reverse: The monument of Ivan Fedorov in Moscow, to the right – two dates in two lines '1510' and '1583', holding a book page in his right hand. The inscription: 'РУССКИЙ ПЕРВОПЕЧАТНИК ИВАН ФЕДОРОВ' (A FIRST RUSSIAN PRINTER / IVAN FEDOROV).
Diameter – 31 mm, weight – 12.8 g. Edge: incuse double lettering ОДИН РУБЛЬ (ONE RUBLE), line interrupted by two points. Put in circulation since 03.01.1984. Artist: Krylov, sculptor: S.M. Ivanov. Mintage: 3 000 000.
The coin was struck at the Leningrad Mint (ЛMД).
