Description: Obverse: A trident depiction in the centre, i.e. the coat of arms of Ukraine, framed on both sides with an ornament of two oak leaves and two ears of wheat. The inscription above the coat of arms – УКРАЇНА (UKRAINE), and the year of coin mintage beneath it. Obverse: A digital designation of coin denomination, and beneath it – 'ГРИВНЯ' (HRYVNIA) inscription. On both sides of figure '1' there is symmetrical ornamentation of a conventionalized twigs. The coin reverse is framed with salient edging along the perimeter. All depictions and inscriptions are relief. Diameter – 26 mm., thickness – 1.85 mm., вес – 7.1 г. Along the rim of the coin the following inscriptions are pressed in: 'ОДНА ГРИВНЯ' (ONE HRYVNIA) and the year of its mintage, separated with dots from one another. Artist and sculptor: V. Lopata. Put in circulation since March 12, 1997. Struck at the Luhansk Machine-Tool Plant (Ukraine).
