Description: Commemorative coin 'Baptizing of Rus'. The coin is dedicated to the official introduction of Christianity as the state religion. Vladymyr the Great and his nearest milieu adopted Christianity at the beginning of 988. In Spring that year the kievites were baptized. It initiated the process of baptizing of the whole country.
Obverse: Between two angel figures there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine and inscriptions: УКРАЇНА and 50 / ГРИВЕНЬ / 2000, designation of metal, its standard, its weight and the Mint logo.
Reverse: In the foreground there is a cruciform composition depicting Prince Volodymyr-the Baptist on the background of the scene of kievites baptizing and the conventionalized inscription: ХРЕЩЕННЯ РУСІ (BAPTIZING OF RUS).
900 standard gold. Weight – 15.55 g., diameter – 25.0 mm., edge – smooth. Artist and sculptor: Roman Chaikovskiy.
Put in circulation since October 16, 2000. Mintage: 3 000. The coin was struck at the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.
