COMMEMORATIVE SILVER 50 HRYVNIAS COIN ISSUED IN 2009.

Description: Commemorative coin 'Nights at the khutor near Dykan'ka'. The coin is dedicated to 'Christmas Eve', a genuine trade festival which was poetized by Nykolay V. Gogol in one of his tales of the 'Nights at the khutor near Dykan'ka' series.
Obverse: In the centre there is a depiction of Mykola V.Hohol with a pen (local gilding, gold weight in fineness – 0.000048 g) and literary characters from 'Nights at the khutor near Dykan'ka' tale. Above there are the small State Emblem of Ukraine and semicircular inscription: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE), beneath there is inscription: 50 ГРИВЕНЬ (50 HRYVNIAS).
Reverse: There is the composition from 'Christmas Eve' tale, in the center – Christmas star within the candle with an inset of yellow sapphire (0.06 carat). Beneath the candle there is semicircular inscription: 'НОЧЬ ПЕРЕД РОЖДЕСТВОМ' (CHRISTMAS EVE).
999 standard silver. Weight – 500.0 g., diameter – 85.0 mm., edge – plain with the designation of precious metal, its pure weight and and the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint. Artists: Vladymyr Taran, Aleksander Kharuk, Serhii Kharuk, sculptors: Vladymyr Atamanchuk (obverse), Vladymyr Demianenko (reverse).
Put in circulation since August 10, 2009. Mintage: 1 500. The coin was struck at the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.
