COMMEMORATIVE SILVER 50 HRYVNIAS COINS ISSUED IN 2011.

Description: Commemorative coin '20 Years of Independence of Ukraine'. 'Rebirth of Ukrainian Statehood' series. The coin is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. On August 24, 1991, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine that opened a new era in the development of Ukraine as a sovereign state.
Obverse: There are: the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine in the centre and the cruciform image of rushnyks (Ukrainian embroidered decorative towels); between the rushnyks there are portraits of the most outstanding personalities of different epochs of our history together with the legends: ЯРОСЛАВ МУДРИЙ, ТАРАС ШЕВЧЕНКО, МИХАЙЛО ГРУШЕВСЬКИЙ, БОГДАН ХМЕЛЬНИЦЬКИЙ (YAROSLAV THE WISE, TARAS SHEVCHENKO, MYKHAILO HRUSHEVSKYI, BOHDAN KHMELNYTSKYI); below against the background of a rushnyk there is indicated the coin minting year 2011 and the semicircular inscriptions: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE) (above) and coin denomination (below): П’ЯТДЕСЯТ ГРИВЕНЬ (FIFTY HRYVNIAS). On the latter within the lower part of the circle there is the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.
Reverse: There is a conventionalized wreath formed by viburnum fruits and leaves; in the centre thereof the legend: 20 РОКІВ / НЕЗАЛЕЖНОСТІ / УКРАЇНИ (20 YEARS / OF INDEPENDENCE / OF UKRAINE); there are four ornamental rhombuses with the images of an airplane, combine harvester, ship and mine between them, which symbolize different branches of the economy; under the circle there is the inscription: 24 СЕРПНЯ / 1991 Р. (24 AUGUST / 1991 YEAR).
999 standard silver. Weight – 500.0 g., diameter – 85.00 mm., edge – smooth with in-depth legend indicating the metal, its fineness, weight in fineness and the Mint logotype. Artists: Vladymyr Taran, Aleksander Kharuk, Serhii Kharuk, sculptors: Vladymyr Demianenko (obverse), Vladymyr Atamanchuk (reverse).
Put in circulation since August 19, 2011. Mintage: 1 000. The coin was struck at the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

Description: The commemorative coin 'The Millennial Anniversary of Saint Sophia Cathedral Foundation'. 'Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine' series. The coin is dedicated to the Saint Sophia cathedral founded in the 11th century, which has played a weighty part in the development and formation of the city of Kyiv as a spiritual, cultural and political centre. The Saint Sophia of Kyiv has always excited admiration thanks to its majesty and still deeply impresses as an outstanding monument of architecture and mural painting.
Obverse: Above there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine with the semicircular inscription: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE); against the background of the cupolas of Saint Sophia cathedral there is depicted a miniature model of its XIth century design; the coin face value: 50 / ГРИВЕНЬ (50 HRYVNIAS) is indicated above against the background of the ornamental pattern used in the murals of the cathedral; below there is indicated the coin issue year 2011.
Reverse: There is the conventionalized composition representing a part of the mural decorations near the cathedral main altar – the XIth century mosaics 'Eucharist' and 'Orans'; above there is the conventionalized inscription: ТИСЯЧОЛІТТЯ СОФІЇ КИЇВСЬКОЇ (MILLENNIUM OF SOPHIA OF KYIV). The Blessed Virgin`s outer garment (omophor, pallium) is gilded.
999 standard silver. Decoration element – local gilding (gold weight in fineness not less than 0.000634 g.). Weight – 500.0 g., diameter – 85.00 mm., edge – smooth with in-depth legend indicating the metal, its fineness, weight in fineness and the Mint logotype.
