SERIES 'AIRPLANES OF ANTONOV'.

Antonov Aeronautical Scientific Technical Complex (Antonov ASTC), formerly the Antonov Design Bureau, is a Ukraine-based (since 1952) aircraft manufacturing and services company with particular expertise in the field of very large aircraft construction.
These coins are dedicated to "Airplanes of Antonov" which is to reflect half a century activities of Antonov aircraft scientific and engineering complex, as well as achievements of modern Ukrainian aircraft construction.

Description: AN-148 aircraft. The coin is dedicated to the Antonov AN-148, a regional jet aircraft designed by the Ukrainian aircraft firm Antonov. In December 2006 the An-148 completed certification testing.
Obverse: Portrait of Queen Elisabeth II to the right. Semicircular inscription: ELIZABETH II ONE DOLLAR COOK ISLANDS (above), 2008 (beneath).
Reverse: There is a depiction of the aircraft AN-148 and inscription: ANTONOV 148, between there is the 'АН' logotype.
999 standard silver. Weight – 31.1 g., diameter – 40.60 mm, thickness – 4.00 mm. Mintage: 3 500.

Description: AN-2 aircraft.The coin is dedicated to the Antonov An-2 (Russian nickname: kukuruznik – a kolkhoz maize worker) also nicknamed 'Annushka'; is an extremely durable, light, single-engine biplane which first flew on 31 August 1947 and was the first plane designed by Antonov. It is used as a light transport, capable of carrying 12 passengers, and for parachute drops and agricultural work. The Guinness Book of World Records states that the 45-year production run for the AN-2 was the longest ever, for any aircraft, only recently beaten by the Lockheed C-130 Hercules (NATO reporting name Colt).
