Description: Obverse: The arms of the country with a so-called small eagle, above it – the German imperial crown; on a breast of an eagle – board with the arms of Prussia, around it – a Prussian award of the Black Eagle with a circuit, on both sides from a tail of an eagle – mint mark 'A' (variants: A, Â, Ñ, D, E, F, Í, G, J).
Reverse: Face value '1' in the circle. Overhead the composition there is a semicircular inscription: DEUTSCHES REICH. 1889. PFENNIG.
Diameter – 17.5 mm. Weight – 2 g. Edge – smooth, thickness 1.2 mm. Mintage: 20 750 000. Mint mark – Berlin (À).
This type of coin has been struck in 1873 – 1877, 1885 – 1889. The coin restored in circulation in 1924, withdrawn from circulation since 28.02.1942.
