Description: Coin of Time. Obverse: A symbol of a heraldic rose with letters H and R beneath it is placed in the central part of the coin. Heinrich Rose (1795 – 1864), chemist, in 1844 discovered a new element – niobium. There are semicircle inscriptions: above – LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA (REPUBLIC OF LATVIA), beneath – VIENS 1 LATS (ONE 1 LATS). Reverse: The dial of the clock with indications of hours and minutes in the central part, and the names of months and the dates in the outer ring. It entices and encourages the observance (engraving) of an essential solemn occasion – a new family formed, a child coming into the world, a daring idea flashing up, etc. Bimetal. The central circle – niobium (7.15 g.); the outer ring – 900 standard silver (10.00 g.). Diameter – 34 mm (diameter of the central circle – 23 mm). Weight – 17.15 g. Edge plain. Artist: Laimonis Senbergs, sculptor: Janis Strupulis.
