Іstrus and ancient cities of Northern Black Sea Region.

The ancient city of Istrus was situated in the delta of the river Danube on the western edge of the Black Sea near what is now Constanta in Romania.
In V – IV BC it minted interesting silver coins with two young male heads.

Description: V – IV ВС.
Obverse: Two young male heads, invented with respect to each other. The image of the double, anti-parallel heads as unique, not only in numismatics.
Reverse: An eagle heading a dolphin left. Inscription: IΣTPIH (the name of the city in the Ionic dialect) above it and a monogram ГАР (beneath).
Diameter – 11 mm, weight – 1.4 g.
