COINS OF THE PROTECTORATE OF BOHEMIA AND MORAVIA

The Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (Czech: Čechy a Morava) was the majority ethnic-Czech protectorate which Nazi Germany established in the central parts of Bohemia, Moravia and Czech Silesia in what is today the Czech Republic. It was established on March 15, 1939 by proclamation of Adolf Hitler from Prague Castle following the declaration of establishment of an independent national Slovak state on 14 March 1939.
During the German occupation (1939 Ц 1945), there were in circulation, in the what was called Protectorate, crown currency, struck by the firm of Vichr at Lysa near Prague, as well as the coins of the German Reich. After the liberation of Czechoslovakia, the Protectorate as well as the Slovakian coins continued to be legal tender. Of the 1st November, 1945, the restoration of Czechoslovakian currency took place and new coins were minted replacing the previous ones; simultaneously some pre-war coins became valid again and were in circulation until 1948. Under the Act of the Monetary Reform, new currency was introduced on the 1st June, 1953; all the previous money was withdrawn from circulation.

Monetary system: 1 Koruna = 100 Hellers.
Coins in circulation: 10, 20, 50 Hellers, 1 Koruna.
