Description: Commemorative coin 'Orante'. The coin of 'Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine' series.
Obverse: In the center, there is a depiction of St.Sophia Cathedral, temple of Kyiv Rus period, the pearl of old Russian architecture of 11th century, framed with beads decoration. Under it there are inscriptions: the period of cathedral foundation – 11th century, respective face value and the year of coin issue. Above, around the coin circumference there is an inscription: УКРАЇНА (UKRAINE).
Reverse: There is a depiction of 'Virgin Orante', the Cathedral's main mosaic in the center of the vegetal circumference ornamentation. The figure of Virgin Orante splits the horizontally located inscription OPАНТА (ORANTE). To the left and to the right from the her figure there are designations of metal and coin's pure weight.
999.9 gold. Weight – 15.55 g., diameter – 25.0 mm., edge – incised. Artist: Aleksander Ivakhnenko; sculptor: Krista Raiter.
Put in circulation since July 28, 1996. Mintage: 3 000. The coin was struck at the Mint of Austria.
