Description: Commemorative coin 'Salamander'. 'The smallest gold coin' series. The coin is dedicated to the speckled salamander, a representative of Caudate amphibious species, the only type of salamander species in the Ukraine fauna, which natural habitat covers mountain and submontane regions of the Carpathian mountains.
Obverse: Within a bead circle there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine is depicted, above which there is the coin mintage year; circular inscriptions: УКРАЇНА (above), 2 ГРИВНІ (beneath), as well as designation of metal (left), its weight and the Mint logo of the NBU (right).
Reverse: There is the salamander depiction, around which there are circular inscriptions: САЛАМАНДРА та SALAMANDRA.
999.9 gold. Weight – 1.24 g., diameter – 13.92 mm., edge – smooth. Artist and sculptor: Vladymyr Demianenko.
Put in circulation since December 8, 2003. Mintage: 10 000. The coin was struck at the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.
