COMMEMORATIVE GOLD 2 HRYVNIAS COINS ISSUED IN 2008.

Description: Commemorative coin 'Scythian Gold'. 'The Smallest Golden Coin' series. The coin is dedicated to an artefact of the Skythian culture – a lamina applique' work of 6th century B.C. with the depiction of the Goddess Api, the Scythians' original mother.
Obverse: Within a bead circle there is depicted the small National Emblem of Ukraine, above which there is 2008, the coin mintage year; between the bead circle and the coin rim there are the inscriptions: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE) (above), 2 ГРИВНІ (2 HRYVNIAS) (below), the designation of the metal, its mass and the NBU Mint logotype.
Reverse: There is a depiction of a golden lamina applique' work as the Goddess Api with serpent-like legs and there is also a semicircular inscription: СКІФСЬКЕ ЗОЛОТО (SKYTHIAN GOLD) (beneath).
999.9 gold. Weight – 1.24 g., diameter – 13.92 mm., edge – smooth. Authors: obverse – Vladymyr Demyanenko; reverse – Borys Hrudenko, sculptors – Vladymyr Demyanenko, Sviatoslav Ivanenko.
Put in circulation since February 22, 2008. Mintage: 10 000. The coin was struck at the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

Obverse: A circle, diagonally divided into sectors which symbolize four elements: land, air, water and fire; in the middle of the circle there is a conventionalized depiction of the sun. Left from the circle there is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine, right – the coin mintage year, the metal designation and its weight; around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE) (above), 2 ГРИВНІ (2 HRYVNIAS) (beneath), as well as the Mint logotype of the NBU.
Reverse: There is a conventionalized depiction of the Cancer surrounded by stars, amidth which there is its sign of the zodiac.
