Description: Obverse: Denomination – figure ‘10’.
Reverse: Circular inscription reading ‘Dobrij prijut’ (‘Kindly Shelter’). Diameter – 19 mm. Weight – 1.8 g. (Konstantin Vasilyevitch Rukavishnikov (1848 – 1915), a well-known public figure from 1893 to 1897 served as a Mayor of Moscow, patronized charities and instructive establishments in the Russian capital. For almost quarter of the century K.V.R. presided over the guardian council of the Rukavishnikov juvenile delinquents asylum founded by his brother Nikolay Vasilyevich (1845 – 1875). Apart from the recreational and treatment facilities intended for his own family, on the terrain of his summer-house estate there was an asylum, the building of which K.V.R. acquired in 1876 deliberately to house an establishment to reform juvenile delinquents. Compared to the neighboring summer-house estates the Rukavischnikov’s one was by far the biggest. From the turn of the century on it also harboured a boarding-house with the furnished rooms to let for holiday-makers).
