OCCUPATION NOTES FOR UKRAINE OF KARBOVANETZ (KARBOWANEZ) DENOMINATION.
These paper notes were printed by the Ukrainian Central Bank (Zentralnotenbank Ukraine) in Rivne (Rowno) for use in territory of the Reichskommissariat Ukraine (except Eastern Galicia, Zacarpatye and Transnistria that was limited between the Southern Bug river and Dniester river).
The Reichskommissariat Ukraine was created August 20, 1941 (its capital was at Rivne (Rowno)) and excluded parts of present-day Ukraine. It extended, in the west, from the Volhynian region around Lutsk, to a line from Vinnitsa to Nikolayev along the Southern Bug River in the south, to the areas surrounding Kiev, Poltava and Zaporozhye in the east, but excluded the Crimea, Chernigov, Kharkov, and the Donbas-Donets Basin. The Reichskommissariat Ukraine was headed by Erich Koch.
The notes inscription on two languages – on the German and on the Ukrainian.
The Reichskommissariat's districts were:
Dnipropetrovsk – headed by Oberbefehlshaber der NSDAP ('party commander in chief') Claus Selzner,
Kiev – SA-Oberführer Waldemar Magunia,
Nykolaiv – headed by NSFK-Obergruppenführer Ewald Oppermann,
Zhytomyr (Zhitomir) – headed by Regierungpräsident Kurt Klemm,
Volhynia-Podolia – headed by SA Obergruppenführer Heinrich Schöne.
