COUNTY OF SCHAUMBURG-LIPPE.
Schaumburg-Lippe was a small state in northwest Germany. Its capital was Bückeburg.
Schaumburg-Lippe was founded in 1640 when Schaumburg-Gehmen was divided between Hesse-Cassel and Lippe-Alverdissen. The two became known as Schaumburg-Hessen and Schaumburg-Lippe. Philipp II, the youngest son of Count Simon VI of Lippe came into the possession of Alverdissen and Lipperode upon his father's death in 1613. In 1640, he also inherited half of Schaumburg-Buckeburg, becoming the first Count of Schaumburg-Lippe. A separate line of Schaumburg-Alverdissen was established in 1681.
With the death of Count Wilhelm in 1777 the junior Schaumburg-Lippe-Alverdissen inherited the County thereby reuniting Schaumburg-Lippe with Lippe-Alverdissen.
In 1806, the count was raised to the rank of prince and Schaumburg-Lippe was incorporated into the Rhine Confederation. It became a part of the German Confederation in 1815 and joined the North German Confederation in 1866. The principality became a member state in the German Empire in 1871.

Semicircular inscription: DEUTSCHES REICH ∙ ZWEI MARK, year of issue. 900 standard silver (Ag 900, Cu 100). Diameter – 28 mm. Weight – 11.111 g. Edge – 140 corrugations, thickness 2.1 mm.
