Description: Commemorative coin 'Year of Rat'. 'Oriental Calendar' series. The coin is dedicated to the Year of a Rat, one of the animal-symbols of the Oriental calendar, which is based on the twelve months cycle of Jupiter, the largest planet of the Solar system. Obverse: Within setting made of a vegetable ornamentation in the primitivism technique there are inscriptions: УКРАЇНА / 5 / ГРИВЕНЬ (UKRAINE / 5 / HRYVNIAS); at the top there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine and the inscription: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК (NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE); beneath: the coin issue year, the designation of metal, its weight in fineness and the NBU Mint logotype. Reverse: There is a rat made in a technique of a cheap popular print within a vegetable ornamentation setting. Both above and below it there is a depiction of contour figures of all 12 symbols of the Oriental calendar. 925 standard silver. Weight – 15.55 g., diameter – 33.00 mm., edge – incised. Artists: Vladymyr Taran, Aleksander Kharuk, Sergey Kharuk; sculptor: Anatolyi Demianenko. Put in circulation since January 3, 2008. Mintage: 15 000. The coin was struck at the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

Description: Commemorative coin 'Cancer'. 'Signs of the Zodiac' series. Obverse: In the middle of the circle there is a conventionalized depiction of the sun, left and right, from it, as well as above and beneath it, there are four sunny spheres symbolizing four seasons. Left from the circle there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine, right – the coin mintage year, the metal designation and its weight; around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE) (above), 5 ГРИВЕНЬ (5 HRYVNIAS) (beneath), as well as the Mint logotype of the NBU. Reverse: There is a conventionalized depiction of the Cancer surrounded by stars, on the left from which there is the constellation outline, and the sign of the zodiac, on the right there is the conventionalized inscription: СУЗІР’Я / РАКА (CANCER CONSTELLATION). 925 standard silver. Weight – 15.55 g., diameter – 33.00 mm., edge – incised. Artists: Vladymyr Taran, Aleksander Kharuk, Sergei Kharuk; sculptors: Vladymyr Demianenko. Put in circulation since June 20, 2008. Description: Jubilee coin 'Roman Schuhevich'. 'Outstanding Personalities of Ukraine' series. The commemorative coin is dedicated to Roman Shukhevych, one of the outstanding leaders of the Ukrainian liberation movement of the 20 – 50s of the 20th century, a military and political figure. Roman Volodymyrovych Shukhevych (Taras Chuprynka) – a lieutenant-general and the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (1943 – 1950) is a bright representative of generation of the stormy 1920 – 40s. Obverse: There is a composition: the conventionalized broken uphill road, against the background whereof there is the inscription – СЛАВА / УКРАЇНІ! (GLORIFIED BE / UKRAINE!); above – the Small National Emblem of Ukraine and the semi-circular inscription: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE), thereunder – the coin face value: П’ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (FIVE HRYVNIAS), the indication of metal and weight in fineness; There is also placed the logotype of the NBU Mint. Reverse: Tthere is a portrait of Roman Shukhevych against the background of a conventionalized forest, which symbolizes military resistance to invaders and the national – liberation movement in Ukraine, and placed are the inscriptions: to the right: ГЕРОЯМ / СЛАВА! (GLORIFIED BE / THE HEROES!); to the left:1907 / ЛЬВІВ / 1950 / БІЛОГОРЩА (1907 / LVIV / 1950 / BILOHORSCHA) and below, the bow-shaped – РОМАН ШУХЕВИЧ (ROMAN SHUKHEVYCH). 925 standard silver.
