SILVER COINS
OF GERMAN EMPIRE
(1873 – 1918).

The coins were in circulation in territory of Ukraine from end of April to the middle of November, 1918.
Coins in circulation: 1/2 Mark, 1, 2, 3, 5 Mark.
Silver coins of face value of 50 Pfennig (with variety types of national arms that have been struck in 1875 – 1877, 1877 – 1878 and 1896 – 1903) weren’t in circulation in Ukraine, because were withdrawn from circulation since 30.09. 1908.

The German Empire was formed January 18, 1871. The new empire comprised 25 states:
4 kingdoms (Prussia, Württemberg, Bavaria, Saxony);
6 grand duchies (Baden, Mecklenburg-Schwerin; Hesse and by Rhine, Oldenburg, Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Mecklenburg-Strelitz);
5 duches (Anhalt, Brunswick, Saxe-Meiningen, Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Saxe-Altenburg);
7 principalities (Waldeck, Lippe, Schaumburg-Lippe, Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, Reuss Elder Line, Reuss Junior Line);
3 free cities (Bremen, Hamburg and Lübeck).

The states had the right to issue gold and silver coins of higher value than 1 Mark: 1, 2, 3 and 5 Mark.
All these coins were general issues of the German Empire.
