Darlehnskassenscheine were covered not by gold, but by industrial and agricultural goods.

Beneath it – issuer information. Over it there are gothic inscriptions in 4 lines: DARLEHNSKASSENSCHEIN / EIN MARK / BERLIN, DEN 12. AUGUST 1914 / REICHSSCHULDENVERWALTUNG. Beneath it – signatures. In the right upper corner – there is red serial number. In the left bottom corner – relief stamping of Reichsschuldenverwaltung, in the right bottom corner – red stamping of Reichsschuldenverwaltung. Back side: In the center of the background – coat of arms of German Empire and ornamental pattern, to the left and to the right – denomination 1. Semicircular inscriptions – DARLEHNSKASSENSCHEIN (above), EIN MARK (beneath). To the left and to the right – denomination: 1 MARK 1. Background with ornament: 1 MARK. Issued in 12.08.1914. Dimensions: 95 х 60 mm. Watermark: 'geometrical ornament'. The predominant color is green. 6 digit serial number 421 ∙ 333324. The series is designated by 3 figures, all signs of serial number have the identical size. There are: 1. One red stamping, obverse color is light-green. Series 1 – 239. 2.
